Pilates in Portland: common questions

How much do Pilates classes cost in Portland, Maine?

As of October 2026, a group reformer class costs $25 at SALUD and $35 to $45 at most other studios (Kaia and Scarborough Pilates $35, Cait Bower $43, Springboard and The Pilates Center of Maine $45). Mat classes run $15 to $35, and intro deals like 3 classes for $60 at Reframe and Mome bring the first few classes down.

What is the difference between mat and reformer Pilates?

Mat Pilates uses your body weight on a mat, so it is the easiest way to start. Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine that adds resistance and support. Portland has both, plus faster machine-based formats: Reframe teaches on the Xformer and btone uses its own btFORMER.

Which Portland neighborhoods have Pilates studios?

Studios cluster downtown and in the Old Port (Cait Bower Pilates, btone), the West End (Springboard Pilates), the East End (The Pilates Center of Maine), Bayside (SALUD, Reframe), and East Deering (Move ME Pilates), with more in South Portland (Mome Studios) and along Route 1 in Scarborough.

Do I need experience to start Pilates?

No. Most Portland studios offer beginner or foundations classes, and reformer studios typically ask new clients to start with an intro session so they can learn the equipment. Call ahead or check the studio's schedule for beginner-friendly times.
